This is a milestone that I am sure when the game was originally released they never dreamed of making. Hats of to you a-net.

No offense to guru (it seems to have a jaded point of view when it comes to GW) but after taking a 3-4 month break, coming back I still see plenty of life in multiple area's and new players to the game.
Not the dying, omg world is coming to the end.. etc you can find here.

Sigh. Patience is a virtue.
Any excuse for people to shoe-horn in an agenda *shake head* Why not just be happy for a nice, simple announcement. Like this:
Wow, that's so cool! Way to go. Cheers, here's a toast *raise glass*

It is amazing that this lil game we play called Guild Wars has grown to this size, makes ya feel proud to be a part of it, even if it is a small part. Hopefully we continue to grow and once gw2 comes out we can take those same #s there

No need to hide. Apart from Sims, Lineage, Half-life, Myst and perhaps a few more, all other titles are primarily for consoles. I don't think any of them ever reached the top charts for Windows PC market only.
Notably missing, Halo 2.
This would make, according to your list, GW a surprising success.
The sims, with 16 million sold by 2005, was ranked as best-selling PC game. By that time, WoW was not a contender.
Given these numbers, getting such high numbers in *Windows PC*, in the time when majority of gaming has moved to consoles is a notable success.

That is certainly a large # of new players.
/offtopic
It can't bring back the friends that quit though. Seems a lot of my friends haven't logged on forever and now me. There goes a good 30 or so people. Until the next big thing to happen in gw.. I won't be playing.
MMORPG = No fun w/out friends especially those you had from the beginning.
/offtopic
May the new players flourish and have fun like I did.
